Create Theater Workshop Information

These workshops will take place on the show floor as part of the TPIE Create Theater happenings and feature many of the plants and products found on the TPIE show floor! Sessions are free and open to all TPIE show attendees.

This year’s workshops offer creative and effective ways to merchandising plants provided by the country’s leading floral designers with a focus on four of 2017 hottest floral design styles.  Come take a seat at the TPIE Create Theater and enter Chez Verde, TPIE’s own retail storefront.

11 a.m. AIFD Merchandising Workshop with Trends focus
Modern Wonders – Simple lines blended with old Asian

Jenny Thomasson AIFD, CFD, opened her floral retail shop 12 years ago and hasn’t looked back! With a degree in graphic design, she has a savory flair and looks to make very unique arrangements for her clients. She earned her first certification of CFD from the American Institute of Floral Designers in 2010, and in 2011, earned the distinguished certification of AIFD from the American Institute of Floral Designers. She’s presented at the AIFD Symposium, which is quite an honor and has earned two more very distinct certifications: from PFCI, Professional Floral Commentators International and the EMC, European Masters Certification.

Into the Jungle – An Urban Fever with Vivid Colors

Janet Black AIFD, PFCI, has a passion for designing and specializes in floral design for events. With more than 25 years’ experience in both interior and floral design, Janet knows the importance of eye appeal for aesthetics and to sell product. Janet operates her business in Maine in the summer and Fort Lauderdale in the winter. She has held many national positions with the American Institute of Flora Designers (AIFD), serving as a designer for the Philadelphia Flower Show and was invited to design floral arrangements at the White House.

10 a.m. AIFD Merchandising Workshop with Trends focus
The French Connection – Falling in Love with France All Over Again

Gaby Ramos, Milam’s Markets and Rae Roberts AIFD. Gaby Ramos serves as floral director at Milams Markets in Miami. Her first-hand experience in the supermarket industry includes everything from planning and buying to merchandising for special events and holidays. Having owned a retail florist store for 20 years, Rae now teaches floral design classes through the Illinois State Florist Associations (ISFA). Rae was inducted into AIFD in 2001 and is now the past president of North Central AIFD. She is a longstanding member of the Illinois State Florists Association serving as board member, Vice President and President in 2010-2012. In 2001 Raewas chosen as ISFA’s designer of the year; in 2004 as Ohio Designer of the Year and in 2012 as Tennessee Designer of the Year 2012, Rae’s passion is to educate florists and to encourage expertise, professionalism and knowledge in the floral design industry.

The Force of Nature – Letting Nature Take its Course

Randy Wooten AIFD PFCI CFD GMF has over a decade of experience in the floral industry. He is the fourth generation owner and lead designer at Delorice’s Florist in Douglas, Georgia and is also active in the advancement of the floral industry. Randy educates his peers at various design shows and currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Southern Chapter of AIFD.
